Careers are for everyone. So the Career OS is built to be usable by everyone — with clear commitments, published targets, and a fast path to flag anything that isn’t working.
Our commitment
Not Cooked Jobs targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA across every public marketing page and every core product surface. Where a specific interaction has to trade off, we favour the more accessible pattern by default.
What we’ve shipped
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable via Tab / Shift+Tab, with a visible focus ring.
- Skip to content — a keyboard-visible link at the top of every page jumps past the header.
- Reduced motion — all cinematic animations respect
prefers-reduced-motion. Motion is disabled by default when the OS setting is on. - Contrast — body text meets or exceeds 4.5:1 against the surface it sits on; large display type meets 3:1.
- Semantic HTML — headings are structured hierarchically. Landmarks (
header,main,nav,footer) are used correctly on every page. - ARIA discipline — we use ARIA only where semantics fall short. No decorative
role. Buttons look like buttons, links look like links. - Screen reader support — tested against VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA, and JAWS on the ten highest-traffic routes.
- Forms — every input carries a label, autocomplete hints, and inline error messages tied via
aria-describedby. - Colour independence — status is never encoded by colour alone. Every green/red state also carries an icon and a text label.
- Focus order — tab order follows visual order. No
tabindexhacks. - Mobile accessibility — touch targets are at least 44×44px. Text scales cleanly to 200%. No horizontal scroll on 320px viewports.
Known limitations
- A small number of decorative marketing animations do not currently have an alternate static state. We’re auditing these; if a specific one blocks you, please email us.
- Interactive charts on `/admin/*` are read-only for screen reader users during Beta; a fully accessible table view lands post-Beta.
- Some third-party embeds (Clerk sign-in components) rely on the vendor’s accessibility work; we track their releases and update on any regressions.
How to report an issue
If any part of the Career OS is not working for you, please email a11y@notcookedjobs.com with:
- The URL and, if you can, a screenshot.
- Your assistive technology (e.g., VoiceOver on macOS 14.5, NVDA 2024.1 on Windows).
- What you expected vs. what happened.
We aim to acknowledge within 24 business hours and confirm a fix ETA within 3 business days. If the issue blocks a career decision, we escalate as P0 (same-day fix).
